The District

Main Street, Walking Pace

College Park never needed a theme: Edgewater Drive, a string of lakes, neighbors who know exactly where their table is. Bungalows, brick storefronts, dinner turning into dessert two doors down, mornings of pancakes and strong coffee.

Flashback · Orlando History

Why are College Park streets named after colleges?

It was a 1920s sales gimmick. Developers named the streets Princeton, Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth, and Stetson specifically to sell building lots during the Florida Land Boom, an Ivy League address for your new bungalow.

The neighborhood was platted starting in 1921 on the shore of Lake Ivanhoe, and the collegiate branding worked so well the post office made "College Park" official decades later.

Local note: every street sign here is a hundred-year-old real-estate ad.
