The District

Orlando With Its Guard Down

Nobody stumbles into Ivanhoe Village by accident. Someone who loves this city grabs your sleeve: trust me, the lake. Then brunch at White Wolf, vintage racks up Orange Avenue and a brewery near the water do the rest.

01 · Cafe

White Wolf Cafe

Morning Ritual, Southern Comfort

White Wolf is the village's morning ritual: Crab Cakes Benedict regulars dream about, French toast worth the trip, a famous cinnamon bun, cheese grits and country fried chicken behind it. Art-filled, warm, staffed like neighbors, the day started right.

Run It Like a Local

Lake First, Tapas Last

Brunch at White Wolf, a slow walk to glassy water, a clear kayak on Lake Ivanhoe, studio doors along Orange Avenue. Evening: tapas at Santiago's as sky goes lavender, then a brewery pint, the neighborhood, start to finish.

Flashback · Orlando History

Why is Lake Ivanhoe named after a knight?

After Sir Walter Scott's 1819 novel Ivanhoe. Early landowner F.N. Abbott named the lake for the Saxon knight, and around the same time, neighbor John W. Childress named nearby Lake Adair after his wife.

So one lake is literature and the next one is a love letter.

Local note: two lakes, one medieval novel, one marriage. Orlando's original romantics.
